However, instead of fleeing his mission, he works harder and attempts to change the War Lord's mind and be the 'best Mormon' he can be! History- Book of Mormon The Book of Mormon is a charming and humorous musical portraying two Mormon missionaries that travel from their home in Salt Lake City, Utah to Uganda in hopes of spreading the word of Jesus. Following the two missionaries, Elder Price and his cohort Elder Cunningham begin their journey in the LDS missionary training facility in Salt Lake City where they are paired up and shipped over seas to Uganda. The Book of Mormon has played in the Eugene O'Neill Theatre on Broadway since 2011 but later went on tour to Chicago in 2012, the West End in 2013, and has plans to go to Australia in 2015. Synopsis- As they arrive in Uganda they are robbed at gun point by soldiers of a local War Lord. Later, they see the village they will be staying and preaching to. This village is riddled with famine, AIDS, and poverty due to the reign of the War Lord. Elder Price and Elder Cunningham later drive out the War Lord and convert the Ugandan village into Mormons. They all go from mud hut to mud hut in hopes of sharing the gospel with their fellow Ugandans. Playwrights- The plot of the play is delightful and charming but also witty and slighty cutting to the Mormon religion itself.
