Transcript: Design Process #1 Define the Problem: #2 Brianstorming Teddy Alert #3 Research & Generate Ideas We researched: And asked People: #4 Identify Criteria & Constraints #5 Explore Possibilities We thought and brainstormed how to make our ideas better. The counseling teddy bear wouldn't work because it would not be able to help the child in anyway except comfort. The teddy alert would be able to protect the child and keep them from harm if needed by contacting the police. #6 Select An Approach Toy Name - Not Hazardous- 24/7 assistance- Simple Molds- Plastic-Simple Colors Teddy Bear - 1 2 2 2 2 Teddy Alert- 1 1 1 1 1 Yes- No 1 2 #8 Make a Model or Prototype #9 Test and Evaluate the Design We would like to test the battery life, the frequency and if the cops got to the child's house on time. If the battery dies to fast we will use stronger batteries. If the frequency doesn't go out to far we will use stronger satellites. If the cops don't get to the child in time we will use a faster response device. #11 Create or Make Solution If state governments were to hire us we would make a thousand copies for each school to have. #12 Communicate Results We will have a lobbyist to persuade government officials to buy and give our product to counselors around the country. War #7 Develop a design proposal First we had to make a list of world problems. Bullying Design Brief – Teddy Alerts Client: U.S. Government Target Consumer: School Counselors (abused children- end users) Problem Statement: Many children and young adults are suspected of being abused, but no one does anything about it. The Teddy Alert is a simple object that could prove and prevent future abuse. Design Statement: Design, test, market a product that can prove and prevent abuse with simple technology. Constraints: Small but not hazardous to small children. 24/7 operation Made out of simple molds Mainly plastic, but durable Simple colors, not too eye catching Child Abuse Do you think abuse is wrong? Teddy Bear has 1 yes and 4 no's. *We picked Teddy Alert it has a greater chance of making a different or helping children. Do you know what abuse is?
